Mechanical engineering, materials and plasma technology tomorrow
Research & Development

In addition to our regular business activities in contract heat treatment and plant construction, we are regularly involved in various research and development projects in the fields of materials technology, plasma technology and mechanical engineering. This enables us to identify new potential at an early stage, expand our expertise and continuously develop processes.

Innovation Management

From 01.10.2019 to 31.03.2022, we are carrying out a measure for “Improving business processes and efficiency with the help of digitization tools”, in which an innovation manager will be employed and funded by the ESF.

Development of a plasma nitriding system for the treatment of bulk materials

Within the scope of the ZIM individual project “Development of a plant technology for plasma nitriding and degreasing of bulk materials”, which was successfully completed in 2017, a specialized plasma nitriding plant for the treatment of bulk materials was developed.

Based on the knowledge gained, it is now also possible to treat workpieces for which plasma nitriding was previously too expensive or generally unsuitable (e.g. balls for ball bearings or springs).

The processes are adapted to the individual component geometry, which in turn allows cost-efficient workpiece treatment for small parts weighing up to approx. 100 g.

Improving resource efficiency and productivity in industrial parts cleaning

At the end of 2016 we completed a project supported by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB). Within the framework of the project, one employee was supported as an InnoExpert.

About the project: : The plasma nitriding carried out in the company requires a thorough pre-cleaning of the workpieces to be treated. The task of the sponsored InnoExpert is the design of optimal cleaning concepts and plant technology with an efficient water care and treatment concept. Waste associated with the cleaning process is to be reduced and the economic efficiency increased.

Plasma Polishing

Plasma electrolytic processes are based on the Leidenfrost effect. With the help of a current flow through the workpiece and electrolyte, a steam bubble is created around the workpiece to be treated. As a result of the constant current flow, the vapor is ionized. A plasma is formed around the workpiece. The processes taking place within the plasma and the components of the electrolyte determine the effect on the workpiece.

In cooperation with our long-standing R&D partners, we offer our customers plants for plasma polishing – a process that is especially suitable for stainless steel and can produce a higher surface quality than conventional electropolishing.
